While the nursing shortage rages on in New York, groups are advocating for state funding of nursing degree programs and continued education. Although with increased advocacy, the shortage has also brought about higher salaries in an attempt to bring in more workers. The state of New York has also put together a task force on the future of nursing. There is an estimated need for 196,470 RNs, 55,660 LPNs and 112,450 CNAs by the end of 2016. That is a total of 364,580 nursing-related jobs in New York.
